Intern Special Education Teacher

Starting Date:    August 14, 2006        Salary:  Competitive

QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    Working toward a valid Utah Special Education Teaching License with an endorsement in Mild/Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities.
2.    Exemplary communication skills and ability to relate to at-risk students.
3.    Teaching experience preferred, but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Teachers must establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned students, school staff, district staff, and parents.
2.    Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff.
3.    Maintain confidentiality, disciplinary skills, and standards of student behavior.
4.    Help provide and maintain a safe and supervised environment in the classroom.
5.    Demonstrate professional ethics by maintaining the integrity of the school, students, and teachers.
6.    Work with at-risk students using appropriate curriculum as determined by state core requirements.
7.    Maintain IEP’s and other student records
8.    Conform to district policies including attendance, evaluations, and dress standards.
9.    Have current knowledge of special education rules, regulations, and accountability procedures.
10.    Be able to work in various school settings addressing diverse student needs.
11.    Attend workshops and in-service to improve personal and educational skills.
