BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR CLERK-TREASURER POSITION
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in
Accounting, Business Administration, or other related field.
Additional consideration will be given to applicants with a CPA, an
MBS, or Master's Degree in Accounting, or other related field, or
previous experience in school district finance and business.
Comparable experience will also be considered.
- Extensive experience in administration
and management of public school funds and capital assets is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal relations with an
ability and willingness to listen and communicate in an honest,
appropriate, and sensitive manner with the Board of Education, the
Superintendent of Schools, professional and classified staff, community
and patrons of the schools and other state and local agencies and
organizations.
- An established reputation of adhering to
the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.
- An understanding of and experience in the
collective bargaining - negotiations process.
- Must be able to perform a full range of
school district financial and supervisory duties.
Salary negotiable; a two-year term of
office shall commence on or before July 1, 2006. Comprehensive

Goals
and Focus:
The Business Administrator will administer the business affairs and
financial resources of the district in such a way so as to provide the
students of the Beaver County School District with a meaningful,
effective, and productive education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follows the direction of the
Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools.
- Serves as Clerk-Treasurer of
the Board of Education
- Attends all meetings of the
Board of Education and may be required to keep, maintain, and provide
accurate records and minutes of its proceedings.
- Serves as custodian of all
District funds, exercises responsibility and accountability for all
money received and disbursed, maintains accurate records for all
revenues received and the source of those revenues and ensures the
proper expenditure and disbursement of funds.
- Serves as board advisor for
district business operations.
- Countersigns with the
President of the Board of Education all warrants and claims against the
District as well as other legal documents approved by the Board of
Education.
- Prepares and submits to the
Board of Education each month a written report of the District's
receipts, expenditures, and current financial status.
- Uses uniform budgeting,
accounting, and auditing procedures in forms approved by the State
board of Education, which shall be in accordance with the generally
accepted accounting principles or auditing standards of the State of
Utah.
- Prepares and submits to the
Board of Education a detailed annual statement for the period ending
June 30 of each year of the revenues and expenditures including
beginning and ending fund balances.
- Assists the Superintendent in
the preparation, formulation, and submission of fiscal budget document
and statistical and fiscal reports required by the State Board of
Education.
- Insures that adequate
internal controls are employed to safeguard the District's funds.
- Supervises the management of
the district's insurance programs.
- Exercises supervisory
responsibility for the district's payroll and other financial services.
- Supervises the purchase of
all supplies, materials, and equipment in accordance with state and
district purchasing guidelines.
- Provides regular in-service
to district employees to ensure adequate leadership in school district
financial and facilities operations.
- Participates in classified
and certified staff negotiations.
- Ensures that a current
inventory of the district's property and assets is maintained.
- Participates in ongoing
professional development.
- Assumes duties as assigned by
the superintendent.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary negotiable; expected range from $50,000 to $70,000 depending on
qualifications, education, and experience. The provided

Beaver County School District:
Beaver County is located in the Southwest part of Utah. The
county has two 7-12 high schools, two K-6 elementary and one K-8
school. The population of Beaver County has held steady at
approximately 700 people. The county includes the communities of
Beaver, Minersville, Milford, with several smaller communities feeding
into the school system. The Beaver County School District enrolls
1508 students with 71 certifiedstaff, a total staff of 277, and a total
operating budget of $11,000,000.
